Children's Minnesota is the seventh largest pediatric health system in the United States and the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children, from before birth through young adulthood. An independent and not-for-profit system since 1924, Children's serves kids throughout the Upper Midwest at two free-standing hospitals, 12 primary and specialty care clinics and six rehabilitation sites.
Additionally, Children's is Minnesota's only Level I pediatric trauma center inside a hospital dedicated solely to children. The Supply Chain department at Children's Minnesota provides enterprise level support for the purchasing and distribution needs across the organization. This Buyer position is part of the Purchasing team, which is responsible for the procurement of capital equipment, consumables, non-stock items and services for all locations in the Children's Minnesota network. This department also provides guidance to management on supplier selection and analysis to support organizational and departmental strategic decisions, initiatives, and goals.
This position is responsible for obtaining materials, equipment and supplies at lowest cost consistent with required quality, quantity and availability. This position will purchase more important items of supplies and equipment involving more complex items and larger dollar volume of expenditures than a Purchasing Assistant.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent with a minimum of one year purchasing experience preferably in health care.
- Business or hospital Materials Management experience desirable.
