Job Summary

This position is responsible for helping to build and maintain a strong Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) program by working with MDH staff from multiple divisions and offices throughout MDH. This position will work with staff in these MDH divisions: Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Control (IDEPC), Lab, Environmental Health (EH), Communications, Health Promotion and Chronic Disease, Health Regulation, COVID Bureau, and others, to coordinate cross-agency preparedness planning with a focus on medical countermeasure (MCM) and Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) planning.

  • This position will have the option of teleworking however, it will be based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion.
  • This is a temporary, unclassified benefits-eligible position with an anticipated end date of 06/30/2024, with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public health or related field (a master's degree in public health or a related field can substitute for one year of professional experience.)

AND 2 years'

  • Experience with leading, facilitating and planning strategies for d eveloping and implementing detailed work plans.
  • Experience with performance management, evaluation methods, and project management skills.

Additional minimum qualifications that will be assessed during the interview process :

  • Initiate and foster new organizational partnerships to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Effectively plan a meeting and moderate a discussion in a manner that elicits needed information and results in productive actions and decisions.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally for both formal and informal occasions.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and presentation software, email, and calendaring software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health or related field
  • Knowledge of Minnesota's public health system
  • Public Health Emergency Preparedness experience
  • Mass dispensing and vaccination planning experience
  • Emergency management training or experience

Additional Requirements

  • This position requires successful completion of a background check.
  • This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand travel, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting.
