Department Overview:
The Children's Minnesota Security Team strives to be a welcoming group of professionals who provide a safe environment for our patients, families, visitors, and staff. Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide a safe and secure environment to all individuals at Children's Minnesota, including patients, visitors, and staff.
The Law Enforcement Liaison Officer will perform the following:

  • Partner with hospital security staff to coordinate responses to events should the need arise.
  • As requested, respond and actively assist hospital security and staff in dealing with high risk or security situations, including performing after-action risk assessments and on-site evaluations.
  • Serve as a liaison and interact with other law enforcement agencies when requested by Children's Minnesota leadership or when law enforcement is on-site.
  • Observe the conditions of the hospital, identify concerns, and report them to Security staff.

NOTE: This is a casual position with no set work schedule. Instead, the casual employee will be scheduled for shifts based on their availability and department needs.

Two (2) years completed work experience in a law enforcement position with the Minneapolis, MN or St. Paul, MN Police Department.
Preferred Experience:
Experience working with children and families in the following settings:

  • Healthcare Facilities
  • Community Outreach and Stabilization
  • School Resources/Liaison
  • Crime Prevention and Engagement
  • Family Violence
  • Youth Outreach and Programming

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of state and local laws, ordinances, and statutes.
  • Ability to facilitate crisis intervention through use of de-escalation skills.

Maintain a law enforcement officer license issued by the MN POST (Police Officers Standards and Training) board.
