The purpose of this position is to perform highly specialized molecular biological diagnostic assays in the areas of bacteriology and virology including polymerase chain reaction, whole genome sequencing (WGS), and other molecular biological techniques.
This position will lead the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) WGS Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments (CLIA) validation design, assay development, scientific manuscript writing, and presentation on findings to internal and external stakeholders.
A Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology or related science.
Three years of professional experience performing laboratory testing in the field of Biology, Molecular Biology or Microbiology.
A Master's Degree in the fields above may count towards 18 months of professional experience.
Experience must include the following to be considered a candidate:
- Knowledge with next generation sequencing and bioinformatics.
- Analyzing and creating reports based on findings and results to provide necessary training for other team members.
Successful candidate must possess a valid Class D Driver's License.
- A Ph.D.'s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field.
- Experience with next generation sequencing library preparation, troubleshooting, and bioinformatic data analysis.
- Experience with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
- Assay development and CLIA validation.
- Scientific writing experience with a track of peer-reviewed publications.
- The ability to conduct advanced specialized tests independently.
- Understanding biological hazards in a laboratory and practicing safety procedures.
- Experience working with others from the State, Federal, and Private research funding organizations.
This position requires successful completion of a background check.
