Job Summary
Job Summary
This position exists to conduct and support database management, analyses, and reporting for sickle cell disease and long-term surveillance epidemiologic surveillance and studies, including post-acute COVID epidemiologic studies. The incumbent will investigate, document, improve, and manage the quality of data collected, including administrative claims (emergency room, hospital discharge, Medicaid, Medicare, All-Payer claims), clinical, public health (i.e. newborn screening, mortality, births), COVID-related (case intake, COVID-NET) and survey data. Provide advanced data management, data linkage, data de-duplication, and statistical assistance to epidemiologists conducting investigations addressing sickle cell disease, post-acute COVID sequelae, and other relevant chronic conditions. Develop data validation, descriptive statistics and quality metrics for various data sources used as part of epidemiologic investigations. Develop comprehensive reference information and presentation materials. Participate in other projects as deemed necessary by the Manager of the Chronic Disease and Environmental Epidemiology Section.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of professional experience in biostatistics, informatics, public health, or a related field
Experience must include the following elements:
Data management and analysis
Background using analytical, statistical, and documentation software such as SAS, SPSS, Excel, Powerpoint, and MS Word
Ability to design and conduct appropriate statistical analyses
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in biostatistics, informatics, public health, or a natural or social science discipline, in an area with emphasis on quantitative analysis
Experience performing and communicating quantitative analysis, spatial analysis, statistical modeling and/or program evaluations
Ability to design and implement analyses on the basis of descriptions in research literature
Experience manipulating large datasets with a wide variety of approaches and tools
Ability to assess, measure and document the validity, reliability completeness and usability of complex data sets
Experiencing in compiling and reforming data from a variety of records and data sources, including interviews and surveys
Identifying and extracting factual information from a variety of sources and producing clear, concise analysis and report
Skilled in organizing work, developing and implementing effective workplans, managing tasks, and handling multiple project assignments; able to effectively manage times and meets deadlines; able to respond to and balance the competing requests for time
