Job Summary
Job Summary
The fiscal close period of May through mid-September is a busy period for MDH Finance. We are seeking 2 student workers to provide additional capacity during our busy season. Each of the student workers will support 1 of 3 units in Finance: Purchasing, Accounting Operations, or Financial Operations. The primary responsibilities of these positions include:

  • Entering financial transactions into SWIFT (the state's accounting system) such as payments, budgets, encumbrances, or payroll funding;
  • Filing, scanning, and printing invoices, purchase orders, or other financial documents;
  • Assisting with fiscal year end file organization;
  • Other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of at least two years of post-secondary education.
Student Worker Eligibility:
To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Para Professional Senior you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data entry and other general office duties
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
Ability to work independently and carry out oral and written instructions regarding work assignments.
Ability to organize and adhere to timeliness.
Interpersonal skills sufficient to answer questions and problem solve issues with others
Additional Requirements
Must successfully pass a background and reference check.
